Chili Cook Off Entry

Here's my entry into Gloria's Chili Cook Off Challange. It's the one I used to the Halloween Spread. It's easy and delicious and has some chocolate in it too.

Chile Chili
(makes 4 generous helpings)
1 lb. lean ground beef
1 medium onion, chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 (28 ounce) can diced tomatoes
1 (15 ounce) can chili beans
2 tablespoons chile powder
1 tablespoon grated Mexican chocolate
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon each: salt, pepper
1 tablespoon hot sauce
sour cream, grated Cheddar cheese, minced onion, chopped jalapeños, optional

Brown ground beef, onion, and garlic. Drain and discard fat. Add tomatoes, chili beans, chile powder, and chocolate. Cook on medium low heat for 1 hour. Serve warm.

Teresa, Your chili looks great! Love the chocolate--so far, three of us have put chocolate in our chili.
Can I please, puh-leeze, have my Kahlua back? If there's any left? :) Big hugs.

Yum-Yum! Your Chile Chile looks so tasty. I have never put chocolate in my Chile. I am so curious to how that would taste. I must try this, soon!

Sounds delicious. I just made BBQ sauce with dark chocolate and it was delicious. I love chocolate in spicy dishes.

Yup, up here in NY we are officially hitting "I need chili" weather. My toes and fingers are cold all the time. Warm heart they say, but they aren't the ones freezing :)

And don't think for a second I didn't see the Mexican chocolate in there :)
