Do you ever find a product that you purchase regularly and incorporate into your everyday meals? The Del Monte brand is one of those products for me. I find them to be not as expensive as Hunts and a little more appealing to me than the store brand.
Finding a can of Del Monte Diced Tomatoes with Onion and Garlic in the pantry and a piece of sirloin sitting in the fridge, I knew I had a winning combination. I looked up their website and found a tasty steak recipe that could be prepared in a snap. Bob gets home from work at 8 in the evening and he’s hungry by the time he walks in the door.
Try the salsa with steak or some fish. It’s delicious and very quick to prepare.
Del Monte’s Grilled Steak with Pineapple Salsa
1 tablespoon chile powder
¼ teaspoon cumin
½ teaspoon minced garlic
1 pound boneless beef sirloin steak, 1-inch thick
Salsa:
1 can (15 ounce) Mandarin Orange segments
1 can (14.5 ounce) Del Monte Diced Tomatoes with Garlic and Onion
1 ca (8ounces) Pineapple tidbits
1 tablespoon chopped and seeded jalapeño
½ cup chopped green and red bell pepper
Cooked egg noodles
Mix dry rub for steak by combining chile powder, cumin and garlic in a small bowl.
Trim fat from steak. Rub both sides of steak with prepared rub.
Grill steak, uncovered, directly over medium coals for 12 to 15 minutes. Or grill on grill pan over stove, same approximate time.
Stir together Mandarin slices, tomatoes, pineapple, green and red bell pepper and jalapeno. Season lightly with kosher salt.
Thinly slice steak against the grain. Serve over hot egg noodles and top with salsa.
Check out what I made for dessert. An incredibly delicious Brownie – Cake combination with a simple chocolate chip topping.

Love steak...but never tried with pineapple salsa...sounds delicious...yummie!
Strangely enough, we get Del Monte in Greece, but only the pineapple. Your steak and salsa sound fantastic.
What a winning combination! and a sneaky way to get Larry to eat fruit. Great photo, too, which makes me wish my camera gets better fast. I can't eat those brownies right now, but I can dream!!!! I'm going to visit that site right now.
This looks delicious!! Love the pineapple salsa. A little bit of sweet to balance out the savory!
That sounds like a great combination!
I love pineapple salsa. It looks perfect with the steak and on top of the noodles. Yum!
I LOVE the ingredients in that salsa. I never would have thought to put all those things together and I'm definitely going to try it now.
Great idea with the pineapple and orange. I'm not even kidding when I say you're my go-to on steak and grilling. You haven't steered me wrong yet :)
Steered... steak... get it?
